Each year, on New Year’s Eve, so many of us uphold the ‘ritual’ of going to church in a bid to start the new year in ‘GOD’S PRESENCE’. In most cases, some have obviously not been committed to (regular in) church all year long. However, something innate communicates to us that attending the crossover service is the right thing to do. This is because we know that God is the Commander-in-Chief who alone has the ability to comfortably bring us into the New Year.
However, after we see the New Year, things are slowly but surely returned to life as usual thus making God, Commander-in-brief in their lives. Some of us would go on to ‘take charge’ of their lives for the rest of the year. This is an anomaly. In our lives, at all times and in every situation, we should make God the Lord of all or the Lord of none.
Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” This is a profound instruction. The human mind and understanding of the dynamics of life are limited based on our natural frame and as such, we cannot trust God passively. We have to trust Him absolutely. We cannot afford to make God our PLAN B. We must acknowledge Him as the first and only LORD of our lives. “In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:6
James 1:8 says “A double minded man is unstable in all his ways”. As the weeks, months and year unfolds before us, let us decide that in all our decisions, plans, goals, vision or mission, we make God our Commander-in-Chief. He is the Alpha and the Omega. The God who has formed us. He knows us more than we can ever comprehend.
Psalm 139 is a chapter we should read often. Let’s look at verses 1-4. It says, “O Lord, You have searched me and known me. You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off. You comprehend my path and my lying down, And are acquainted with all my ways. For there is not a word on my tongue, But behold, O Lord, You know it altogether.”
It makes logical sense to surrender the direction of your life into the hands of the one who made you. The one who orchestrates the complexities of your life. He is the one who was there at our conception and will be there till the very end. Allow Him to be in charge of everything. Before you make any decision or take any step, consult with the one and only true COMMANDER IN CHIEF.
