JESUS said in John 14:6, "I AM the way, the life and the truth…"Then in John 11:25 JESUS said, "I AM the resurrection and life." The numerous uses of the phrase "I AM" is not only an assurance for the brokenhearted but it also speaks of the love, grace, mercy, and empathy of a GOD whose heart is equally broken when we are going through pain. We complain of our brokenness, betrayal, and injustice that we face in this world, but we sometimes fail to realize that JESUS went through the same pain, betrayal and injustice when he was in this world. But the life of Christ is that of an overcomer. So, if we decide to accept and follow Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we too can emerge out as overcomers and as more than conquerors.
JESUS Christ is described as 100% GOD and 100% human. He has gone through all the painful experiences of a human life and still has a broken heart just like us. His heart still bleeds every time we give into disobedience and sinful pleasures of this world. HIS heart breaks every time we move away from HIS Spirit, making HIM lonely, by embracing the dark spirits of this world. Therefore, let us not be weary when suffering with pain and loneliness because our LORD and Saviour JESUS Christ is equally broken just like us. Instead, let us seek HIS Sprit, the Holy Spirit who will give us the strength and joy to overcome the pain, loneliness, and sufferings of this world. The Bible says, "The joy of the Lord is my strength." When the Spirit of the LORD fills our heart, we not only start healing, but the joy and peace of GOD fills our heart and mind which surpasses all human understanding.
JESUS understands our loneliness. Right from the very beginning till now, His greatest creation, human beings have always disobeyed Him. The pain that we feel when we are betrayed and abandoned by our loved ones is the same pain which made Him hang on the cross. The LORD of lords and the KING of kings, JESUS Christ gave up His life for the sins of this world. Sin is the greatest cause of pain which not only tears us down in this world but also made GOD send His son who gave up His life for our redemption and salvation. But the saddest part is, we never really pay heed to the true cost of this great sacrifice of our Lord and Saviour and this is a continuous betrayal of God’s precious Son.
Every year, we celebrate all the Christian festivals and traditions, diligently and very religiously but we hardly realize these special days should draw us closer to God who really wants us to enjoy a life with Him here on earth as well as in His Kingdom. Time and life continue as always because God is still patient with this sinful world waiting for the transformation of human hearts. But someday, the Messiah would return, and this grace period will be over. Time will stand still.
Celebrating the birth of the Messiah every year through cakes, gifts and trees won't change the truth that He is coming back and this time not as a baby but as the KING and the JUDGE. That time, we won't really have any more time for transformation or repentance. Now is the time to repent from our sins and return to GOD before it's too late. CHRIST is waiting eagerly for us to repent and turn to Him. He says in Revelation 3:20 "Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him…" Let us not delay any more in opening the door of our heart to JESUS for He is the only one who can heal and grant us a new life. The human heart can only be satisfied by the one who has created it. During this blessed Christmas season and beyond, let us open our heart to JESUS who is longing for our repentance and fellowship. There can be no greater friend and companion than Christ and the best gift that we can offer him this Christmas season (and always) is our broken and lonely heart because only He can heal us!
Therefore, next time we feel lonely, let us to turn to Christ instead of giving into depression and anxiety. GOD is the perfect medicine for our shattered heart and mind. Next time we feel lonely and betrayed, let us rejoice in the Spirit of the Lord realizing that 'Loneliness is a gift' and the good news is, there is hope and healing for our brokenness, pain and loneliness through Christ JESUS who wants the transformation of our heart so that we can enjoy a life with Him here on earth as well as in His Kingdom.
Come let us open our heart to JESUS who has not only created it but is the only ONE who can satisfy and heal it. Praise the LORD! Once again, Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year!
