MAKE IT COUNT

By Michael Chidubem

Time is one of God’s most precious gifts, and we are called to use it wisely. While prayer is an essential part of life, Scripture reminds us that prayer must be accompanied by action. James 2:26 declares, “Faith without works is dead.” This truth underscores that while we trust God for His guidance and provision, He also expects us to act, to work, and to persevere in our daily endeavours.

Even in the perfection of Eden, God gave Adam the responsibility to work the garden and take care of it (Genesis 2:15). This shows us that work is not a curse but a divine expectation and privilege. God blesses our labour, but He cannot bless idleness. When we pray for success in our dreams, we must align those prayers with diligent effort, efficient use of time, and unwavering commitment to excellence.

The Bible repeatedly warns against laziness and excessive sleep. Proverbs 6:9-11 challenges us: “How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber... and poverty will come on you like a thief.” These words are a powerful reminder that we are called to actively pursue our goals with discipline and determination.

As we strive toward our aspirations, Colossians 3:23 serves as a guiding principle: “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters.” When we treat our tasks, whether great or small, as an offering to God, we bring glory to Him and honour to our lives.

Prayer is a spiritual seed, but it is through the sweat of our brow and the work of our hands that God grows and multiplies the harvest. So, pray earnestly, dream boldly, and work tirelessly. In doing so, you not only make every minute count but fulfil God’s purpose for your life.

Have a glorious blessed day ahead.
